The storage computing environment is built upon industry standard servers typically located in racks and interconnected using both open and proprietary communications standards.

In addition to the server racks are an equal number of storage racks that accommodate both spinning magnetic disk drives and silicon based storage drives. Storage is connected into the servers using flexible mesh protocols as well as PCIe, SAS, and other protocols. Servers are connected into clusters and to the internet via optical networking links.
