How to Maximize the Wireless Power Range of Your UHF Sub-GHz Short-Range Device

Abstract: Short-range-device (SRD) ICs abound in most households appearing in everyday tools and toys. In many cases, the higher power WiFi or Zigbee devices are inappropriate transmission alternatives. This design constraint smooths a path for UHF, sub-GHz SRDs. This design solution presents the challenges of making the right SRD IC choices and provides tips for maximizing transmission ranges using a high-gain, low-power RF transmitter.
